MICRONEEDLING IN SOUTHEND, ESSEX

microneedling southend-on-sea

What is microneedling?

Microneedling or skin-needling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the production of thousands of controlled microscopic needle incisions in the papillary and reticular dermis to produce a controlled injury response within tissue through a physical and mechanical mechanism.

Why choose microneedling?

Microneedling leads to gene expression of a number of growth factors that set into motion a cascade of biochemical factors that result in tissue remodelling. Microneedling has been shown to stimulate a transformative growth factor that triggers the natural healing process. This leads to the synthesis of typically woven collagen resulting in scar-less healing. Over time this new collagen matures and re-models, tightening the skin.

What is microneedling good for?

Microneedling in Southend-on-Sea at Snap Beauty is great for a multitude of skin concerns, however, it’s particularly good for tackling acne scars, traumatic scars such as post-surgery, lacerations and chickenpox scars. It is also great to tackle fine lines and wrinkles and improvement in general tone and laxity of the skin.

Microneedling can also be hugely beneficial to the improvement of burn wounds, mild rosacea, hair loss, enlarged pores, skin tightening after weight loss and stretch marks.

Are there any conditions that would prevent me from having microneedling?

Yes, if you have any of the following conditions then we, unfortunately, don’t recommend microneedling.

  • Sebaceous hyperplasia
  • Cold sores or shingles
  • Open wounds
  • Blood-thinning drugs
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Diabetes
  • Keloid Scars
  • Active skin infections
  • Inflamed conditions such as active acne, severe rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis.
  • Actinic keratosis and other non-melanoma & melanoma skin cancers.

What happens at my appointment?

Prior to your first microneedling appointment, you will need to come in for a consultation to ensure suitability and also have a patch test for the numbing cream. Once this is done, we will book you in for your first appointment.

At your first appointment, we will tell you a specific time to come in to have your numbing cream applied. You will then have half an hour to chill out and relax before the treatment commences.

During treatment, the microneedling device will go over your entire face once. Clients describe the pain factor as minimal and liken it to pins and needles.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

On average, we recommend 3 sessions if you’re having the treatment for anti-ageing purposes, and 6 treatments if you’re having microneedling to reduce scarring. Upon consultation, we’ll be able to give you a more accurate answer as to how many sessions will give you the best results.

How long does the treatment take?

We advise numbing for 30 minutes to ensure maximum comfort, plus an additional 45 minutes for the treatment itself.

Are there any risks associated with microneedling?

There are minimal risks associated with microneedling. Unlike other treatments such as chemical peels, the downtime is minimal. You will experience redness on the day of the treatment, and your skin may be a bit sore to the touch. We recommend not using makeup and keeping out of the sun whilst your skin is healing. For a few days, your skin may feel drier than usual. We recommend using Medik8 Ultimate Recovery post-treatment. You’re able to order this via our website and use our click & collect service.

Cautions to be aware of prior to treatment:

  • We recommend coming off your Vitamin A skincare for a week prior to your treatment.
  • We recommend not using sunbeds or sunbathing for 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • We recommend not to take any ibuprofen or blood thinners prior to treatment.
  • We recommend for stretch mark treatments, wait until marks are 1 year old before going ahead with treatment.

Which skin concerns is microneedling good to tackle?

We have seen fantastic results with clients who suffer from a multitude of skin concerns with microneedling. In-particularly we have seen great results from clients with pigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles as well as enlarged pores.

What is the aftercare for microneedling?
