Microneedling, Southend
Microneedling in Southend, commonly known as skin-needling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the implantation of thousands of controlled microscopic needle incisions in the papillary and reticular dermis to produce a controlled injury response within tissue through a physical and mechanical mechanism.
Microneedling leads to gene expression of a number of growth factors that set into motion a cascade of biochemical factors that result in tissue remodelling. Microneedling has been shown to stimulate a transformative growth factor that triggers the natural healing process. This leads to the synthesis of typically woven collagen resulting in scar-less healing. Over time this new collagen matures and re-models, tightening the skin.
Benefits of Microneedling:
- Improves Skin Texture and Tone: Reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores.
- Scar Reduction: Effective for treating acne scars, surgical scars, and other types of scarring.
- Hyperpigmentation and Sun Damage: Helps even out skin tone and reduce dark spots.
- Stretch Marks: Minimizes the appearance of stretch marks.
- Hair Growth: When applied to the scalp, it can stimulate hair growth in individuals with thinning hair or hair loss.

There are minimal risks associated with microneedling. Unlike other treatments such as chemical peels, the downtime is minimal. For a few days, your skin may feel drier than usual. We recommend using Medik8 Ultimate Recovery post-treatment.
Cautions to be aware of prior to treatment:
- We recommend coming off your Vitamin A skincare for a week prior to your treatment.

When will I see results from my microneedling treatment?
Results from microneedling can vary based on individual skin concerns, the depth of treatment, and the body’s healing response. Generally, most people start to notice visible improvements within 4 to 6 weeks after treatment, as collagen and elastin production increases. However, the timeline can differ depending on the skin issue being addressed:
Timeline of Results:
- Immediate (1–3 days): The skin may appear plumper and more radiant due to mild inflammation and increased blood flow. However, redness and slight swelling are common during this period.
- Short-Term (1–2 weeks): As the skin heals, texture and tone may begin to improve, with a smoother and softer feel.
- Moderate-Term (4–6 weeks): Noticeable improvement in fine lines, pores, and overall skin texture as collagen and elastin production increases.
- Long-Term (3–6 months): More significant changes in scarring, deep wrinkles, and stretch marks become evident. Continuous collagen remodeling leads to firmer and more youthful-looking skin.
Factors Influencing Results:
- Skin Concern: Deeper scars or wrinkles may require multiple sessions for optimal improvement.
- Treatment Depth: Deeper microneedling penetrates further into the skin and may take longer to show results but is more effective for severe issues.
- Number of Sessions: Typically, 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart are recommended for best results.
- Aftercare: Proper post-treatment care, including hydration, sun protection, and avoiding harsh skincare products, can accelerate and enhance results.
- Lifestyle: A healthy diet, adequate hydration, and avoiding smoking can support faster healing and better outcomes.
Consistency is key, and results will continue to improve over several months as the skin naturally regenerates.
