POWDER BROWS (SPMU)
Southend on sea, Essex
Powder brows is a form of semi permanent makeup that is completed using a tattoo gun. Pigment is implanted superficially into the epidermis using the gun, allowing us to create an eyebrow design that emulates an eyebrow that has been filled in with makeup.
Key Points surrounding powder brows:
Gradual Shading
Our Ombre brows technique involves a gradient shading effect, where the brows are lighter at the front and gradually become darker towards the tail. This creates a more natural and soft appearance compared to traditional tattooed brows.
Long-Lasting
Typically, powder brows last between 1 to 3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Regular touch-ups can help maintain their appearance.
Suitable for Most Skin Types
Unlike microblading, which may not be ideal for oily skin, powder brows work well on all skin types, including oily and sensitive skin.
Less Invasive
The procedure is less invasive than microblading because it involves layering pigment rather than creating individual hair strokes. This can result in less trauma to the skin.
Customisable
The intensity and shape of the brows can be customised according to the client’s preferences and facial features.
What will happen when I come for the treatment?
Consultation & patch test
The process begins with a consultation where our semi permanent makeup technician will assess your skin type, discusses desired outcomes and carry out a patch test.
Prepping
The area is cleaned and numbed to minimise discomfort during the procedure. After the area has been sufficiently numbed, we will begin to design your brows. We use a variety of measuring tools to do this.
Micro-Pigmentation
Using a tattoo gun, our brow technician will apply the pigment in a series of small dots, building up the colour and shape gradually. After a few layers and finishing touches of the brows have been completed, soak the brows in pigment.
Aftercare
Post-procedure care is crucial for optimal results. Clients are usually advised to avoid getting the brows wet, applying makeup on the area, or exposing it to direct sunlight for a specified period.
Healing
The healing process involves initial darkening of the brows followed by lightening as the skin heals. Your brows will be dry, and may flake and scab. Please bear this in mind when booking your appointments around occasions. A follow-up appointment is scheduled to perfect the colour and shape.
Semi-permanent powder brows are a versatile option for those looking to enhance their eyebrows with a natural, long-lasting solution.
FAQ’S
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Minor side effects are to be expected for any SPMU treatment. The most common side effects are swelling and redness, both will usually subside after 8 hours.
ARE THERE ANY CONDITIONS THAT WOULD PREVENT ME FROM BEING ABLE TO HAVE SPMU?
Yes, we cannot perform semi permanent makeup if any of the following apply to you.
Diabetes
Keloid Scarring
Haemophilia
Pregnancy & breastfeeding – We recommend waiting 6 months after breastfeeding, or after you’ve had your first period post-birth.
Roaccutane & steroids – We recommend waiting until one year after finishing this type of medication.
Antibiotics – You will need to have finished your course of antibiotics before proceeding with SPMU.
Cancer – We will need a doctors letter to confirm that you’re ok to proceed with treatment.
Lip filler – You’re able to have the treatment if you’ve had lip filler, however, it will need to be 8 weeks after treatment. We advise having SPMU, then lip filler.
Moles – We are unfortunately unable to go over moles with SPMU.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE & AFTER TREATMENT?
Before booking your SPMU treatment, we will need to conduct a patch test and consultation. This needs to be at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Before your treatment goes ahead, we advise avoiding coffee, aspirin and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you’re having brows done, we advise washing your hair the morning of your appointment, as you will need to keep your brows as dry as possible post-treatment.
After treatment, you will be provided with an aftercare balm to use. We recommend using this twice a day until the treated area is healed. We advise cleaning the treated area with boiled or bottled water once a day to clean the area.
Please do not use sunbeds, a sauna or swimming pools after treatment. We don’t recommend using makeup on the area during the healing period.
HOW LONG WILL MY SPMU LAST?
Eyebrows usually last around 1 year to 18 months before needing a top-up for colour refreshing.
HOW DOES SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP DIFFER FROM MICROBLADING?
Microblading is the process of using a freehand blade to implement life-like hair strokes into the brow area. This process is completed using a manual blade and reaches the very top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. This means results may not last as long, and it is only one type of look that can be achieved in one area, the brows. Microblading is unsuitable for those who have oily skin, we always advise choosing a powder brow if you have an oily skin type.
