SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP IN SOUTHEND-ON-SEA

semi permanent makeup southend

Semi-permanent makeup or “Micropigmentation” is cosmetic tattooing. Small amounts of pigment are implanted into the dermis using a digital pen device. Results can last between 1 and 5 years, dependant on the area treated. For eyebrows, we recommend a yearly top-up treatment to retain the shape and saturation of pigment.

Permanent makeup can be hugely beneficial for a number of reasons. Many clients who have lost hair, have allergies to makeup or have a difficult time applying makeup, benefit hugely from semi-permanent makeup. The treatment can typically take 2-2.5 hours, depending on the area being treated and the client’s skin.

Initial healing can be between 6 and 8 days, however, full healing will take 4 weeks after the initial treatment. Top-ups can take place after the full healing.

Which areas can be treated with semi-permanent makeup?

We offer the following:

Semi-Permanent Lip Blush – A semi-permanent lip colour that defines lip borders and gives a soft blush of colour to your lips.
Eyeliner lash enhancer – A semi-permanent liner that is applied on the lash line to enhance the lashes and define the eye.
Powder/Ombre Semi-Permanent Brows- A technique used to give a makeup effect to the brow, without being too heavy at the front and looking “blocky”. For a more natural, hair stroke effect, we recommend Microblading.

Are there any side effects to semi-permanent makeup?

Minor side effects are to be expected for any SPMU treatment. The most common side effects are swelling and redness, both will usually subside after 8 hours.
Particularly after lip blush, lips may be sore to touch and tender when brushing your teeth. After lip blush, it is common to develop a cold sore. If you’re prone to cold sores, taking an anti-viral medication may be beneficial. Please take advice from a medical professional before proceeding.

Are there any conditions that would prevent me from being able to have SPMU?

Yes, we cannot perform semi permanent makeup if any of the following apply to you.

Diabetes
Keloid Scarring
Haemophilia
Pregnancy & breastfeeding –
We recommend waiting 6 months after breastfeeding, or after you’ve had your first period post-birth.
Roaccutane & steroids – We recommend waiting until one year after finishing this type of medication.
Antibiotics – You will need to have finished your course of antibiotics before proceeding with SPMU.
Cancer – We will need a doctors letter to confirm that you’re ok to proceed with treatment.
Lip filler – You’re able to have the treatment if you’ve had lip filler, however, it will need to be 8 weeks after treatment. We advise having SPMU, then lip filler.
Moles –  We are unfortunately unable to go over moles with SPMU.

What should I do before & after treatment?

Before booking your SPMU treatment, we will need to conduct a patch test and consultation. This needs to be at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Before your treatment goes ahead, we advise avoiding coffee, aspirin and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you’re having brows done, we advise washing your hair the morning of your appointment, as you will need to keep your brows as dry as possible post-treatment.

After treatment, you will be provided with an aftercare balm to use. We recommend using this twice a day until the treated area is healed. We advise cleaning the treated area with boiled or bottled water once a day to clean the area.
Please do not use sunbeds, a sauna or swimming pools after treatment. We don’t recommend using makeup on the area during the healing period.

How long will my SPMU last?

Eyebrow and lips usually last around 1 year before needing a top-up for colour refreshing. Eyeliner can last a lot longer and sometimes will only need a top-up after 2-3 years.

How does Semi-Permanent Makeup differ from microblading?

Microblading is the process of using a freehand blade to implement life-like hair strokes into the brow area. This process is completed using a manual blade and reaches the very top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. This means results may not last as long, and it is only one type of look that can be achieved in one area, the brows.

Semi-permanent makeup in southend can be completed on the brows, lips and eyes for eyeliner. It is carried out using an electronic device that we’re able to exercise multiple techniques to achieve different outcomes.
Semi-permanent makeup reaches the upper dermal layer to bring long-lasting results for client ease.
