We often hear the dilemma voiced by our clients on whether to get strip lashes or eyelash extensions ahead of an event they’re going to. There’s pro’s and con’s to both, it is mostly down to individual choices, as well as suitability for the event.

What are strip lashes?

Strip Lashes are a reusable (and often synthetic) strip of false lashes that come in different shapes and sizes. Strip lashes are applied with an adhesive that tends to last 12-24 hours. We always recommend Duo lash glue for the best hold and longevity.
They are easy to apply and remove easily by simply gently pulling them off. You do not need any remover to take off lash extensions. Strip lashes can be re-used multiple times if kept clean in-between uses.

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions tend to come in three different varieties. Lash extensions are a great option if you’re looking for a solution that allows you to be more low maintenance in the morning, or if you’re going on holiday and don’t want to wear makeup.

What are the varieties?

Classic lashes ( the OG of lash extensions) involve individually placing one lash onto each (or the majority) of a clients natural lashes. The end result often depends entirely on the client’s natural lashes. Lash tech’s will take into account the health of your eyelashes, as well as the length to decide what will be best suited to you, without causing damage to your natural eyelashes.

Russian lashes are made up of a fan of lashes (often handmade) that are individually applied to the clients natural lash. The amount of lashes that make up the fan can range from 2-10. Eyelashes that are used for Russian lashes are often thinner and lighter than the lashes used for classic lashes. This is due to multiple lashes being applied to one lash, and is hence safer for the natural lashes as it avoids breakage.

Russian lashes are great for those who are wanting a fuller and fluffier look. The thickness can be individually tailored to the clients wants and needs making this such a versatile treatment.

Hybrid lashes are a mix of both of the techniques. This option is great for clients who still want a slightly fuller, yet natural look.

Are there any conditions or illnesses that would prevent me from having lash extensions?

Yes, you unfortunately cannot have lash extensions if you’re currently suffering from any eye infections or diseases, or if you’re planning to have semi-permanent eyeliner. We recommend leaving it 2-4 weeks after having your second session of semi-permanent makeup.
We also don’t recommend lash extensions imminently after having laser eye surgery.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Eyelash extensions typically last between 2-3 weeks before needing an infill.

How do I remove lash extensions?

We always recommend professional removal when it comes to removing lash extensions. A special removal solution will be applied to avoid ay damage caused to your natural lashes. Don’t pull your natural lashes!! Your natural lash will come out with the lash extension.

Please note, Any oily substances or excessive heat/steam will cause the lashes to come off. We recommend avoiding these, as well as keeping your lashes clean whilst you have them.

What’s the difference in Price?

Here at Snap, we offer both eyelash extensions and strip lashes. As of Autumn 2022, our strip lashes at priced at £9.00 and our lash extensions are priced at £51 for classic lashes, and £60 for Hybrids. We unfortunately don’t offer Russian lashes.

Our verdict: For events, strip lashes are always our favourite! There is so much versatility with strip lashes. You can choose a pair to accentuate your lashes perfectly, and let’s not forget to mention they’re on within seconds! We love lash extensions for holidays for the ease and low-effort.
